My new favorite shawl: great colors, fun stripes, interesting construction, generous measurements – and the yarn is so soft and feels so good that I think I will never take this off! “Corners, Edges, Stripes” is the striped variation of my “Ecken + Kanten”-Shawl that everyone keeps asking about. I have worn the predecessor of this shawl until it became old and gray, so when I needed a new one, I thought it would be a great opportunity to write down the pattern for it: Squishy garter stitch is worked in an organic superwash Merino in your four favorite colors. The triangles each use two of them, and each is worked in a different direction for knitting fun and an interesting look. The finished shawl weighs more than 300 g and is 340 cm (136 inches) wide which makes it extremely versatile – it even replaces your cardigan if you wish. But you can also make a smaller and lighter version using less yarn and the same instructions.

Rosy Green Wool Cheeky Merino Joy

This yarn is pure joy: 100% Merino superwash from Argentina, spun in a traditional mill in the UK, GOTS-certified (i. e. produced animal- and eco-friendly) – and soooo supersoft! I do not know many yarns that feel as good as this next to your skin – so it's ideal for shawls, hats and scarves as well as baby clothing. My patterns Matchmaker (DK-Version) and Naiada, as well as Braidsmaid, Heaven & Space, Buds & Bumbles and Brickless are perfect with this yarn, but also my hat patterns Tensfield, Langfield, Blunk the Hat turn out wonderfully in this yarn.The "Melange" colors of Cheeky Merino Joy by Rosy Green Wool have an interesting, almost rustic look to them – while being just as soft as their solid cousins! This is achieved by dyeing a part of the white merino fiber in a dark color before it is spun in to yarn. The colors that are dyed on the skeins will then have a beautiful heathered effect.The sample "Knitters DNA" from our book "Hitchhiker Collection" was made out of two skeins of this yarn, colorway "Sea Green". The sample "Rose Candy" from our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was knit out of 1 skein of this yarn in color "Eismeer" and 1 skein in color "Nachthimmel". My patterns Obvious, Shore Hap Joy, Shrug & More, Corners, Edges, Stripes and Liebe Hannah were written specifically for this yarn.

Addi-Click Lace Long Set

Can the concept of an interchangeable needle set be improved any further? Yes, it can! I have been using several different needle systems over the years, and all of them had the problem that after a while, the needle tips would become loose, yarn would be caught in the screwing section or the tips would fall off entirely (a catastrophe when you are knitting lace...!). The click system by German manufacturer Addi solves this problem: You insert the end of the cable, press and turn – and the needle tip is secured for good. It won't come off, even after many hours of knitting. The mechanism is not hard to learn (it's shown in this Youtube video (opens in new window, in German – but you will see how it works!). It's a patented, true innovation and I think it's really awesome as it makes knitters' lives easier. What I also like about it: If you need to set stitches aside you can just use a connector to attach the ends of the cable to each other (this would not work with other systems!). If you would like to make the switch to the Addi click system, this luxurious needle set is four you: 8 pairs of Addi Lace tips (sharp, suitable for complex patterns) in 3.5 to 8 mms, 3 cables (lengths 60, 80 and 100 cm) and a connector (which lets you combine the cables to 140, 160 and 180 cm). Long, triangular scarves are just the perfect thing to keep one‘s neck warm – and men want them, too! So here is „Ecken + Kanten“ which is German for „Corners and Edges“. When we say that someone possesses „Ecken und Kanten“, we mean he is a strong, sometimes challenging character, which makes him even more lovable. This garter stitch scarf is an easy knit, while the modular construction keeps things interesting. A good beginners‘ project or a relaxing one for advanced knitters. The result is perfect for men (and women) big and small. The pattern can be adapted to any amount of yarn: 100g of fingering weight will result in a shorter scarf that is still big enough to wrap around and wear like a cowl, while 150g will result in a longer scarf. You start knitting at one corner until 25% of your yarn is used up. Shawlettes in garter stitch are my favorite: They look great in a colorful yarn, they are squishy and warm your neck, and they are so easy to knit that even beginners will enjoy making them. This shawlette is named “Easy” because it is just that: So simple to knit, but the biased construction and change of knitting direction will bring out the best of a multicolored yarn. It is long and skinny and can be wrapped around several times, or tied with a knot – and it uses only 459 yards of fingering weight yarn. Length: approx. 200 cm (80 inches), Depth approx. 24 cm (10 inches) You start in one corner and knit a long triangle until 50% of your yarn is used up. Then you change the direction and modularly add a second triangle (no seaming required) – and you have made a colorful addition to your wardrobe!The pattern "Easy" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich!
