I love to play with fun details on my shawls, and “Knospe” is no exception: A scalloped border is
created by 3-dimensional decreases that add an interesting structure to this garter stitch beauty. The
stunning purple and pinkish marble tones of the yarn do all the work for you in creating an elegant
accessory that will add a colorful detail to any outfit.
You will start knitting at one corner, creating wider and wider rows – until you (almost!) run out of
yarn. The size of the shawl is adaptable to the amount of yarn you have and your preferences.

Garter stitch. It‘s simple, it‘s warm and squishy, stretchy and reversible and it makes any variegated, hand-dyed sockyarn really shine. So here‘s Hitchhiker: It is a narrow, slightly asymmetrically shaped triangular shawlette that can be wrapped around the neck several times. The ends are long enough to tie it with a knot. One of the short sides of the triangle features a saw-tooth border that evolves naturally during the knitting and gives the shawl its unusual shape. Because the knitting starts at one end, you can stop anytime, bind off and end up with a useful neckerchief, shawlette or shawl. A perfect project to relax in between more complicated ones, also very suitable for beginners and young knitters.
The name? Well, if you use a 150 g skein of Wollmeise 100% Merino for this, you can make how many teeth? That‘s right, 42. She‘s a mathematician and astrophysicist, and if she took up knitting, no doubt she would enjoy the unusual construction of this shawlette: You start knitting at one corner, adding wider and wider rows, thereby forming a long, narrow, slightly asymmetrical triangle. Come with me to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark: A beautiful city by the baltic sea, with colorful houses, lots of bikes, relaxed happy people and a tradition of yummy candies and sweets! When you visit Copenhagen, don’t forget to stroll over the Tivoli, one of the world’s oldest amusement parks (it was opened in 1843). The rides have this cute vintage feel, and the candy shops offer sweets that look like they come directly from a fairytale. I thought this would be a great last destination for our Strickmich! Club year 2019 – so I designed a candy-colored asymmetric shawl with alternating garter stitch and ruffled parts. It’s an easy knit, and you will know the pattern by heart in no time, making this project the ideal knitting companion for your next trip to your favorite amusement park.The pattern "Tivoli Gardens" is part of Martina Behm´s book "The Hitchhiker Collection"
