Matchmaker
Cowls and loops are just wonderful: You sling them around and you’re ready to go! Also, I really like how roomy and warm they are. And since I wanted one that looks good in my favorite hand-dyed yarn, I made Matchmaker. Its very special triangular but 3-dimensional shape makes it very versatile and warm in the right places. Entirely knit in garter stitch, it is a mindless pleasure to knit. I called this one “Matchmaker”, because you can choose your two favorite hand-dyed colorways and marry them to this comfy, squishy, oversized cowl (the perfect use for Wollmeise’s “We’re Different”-bags!).
The design is such that there are no spooky techniques involved (like provisional cast-ons, short rows or the like), and there is no joining in the round where you might accidentally twist something. Just straightforward knitting and a few increases and decreases - very suitable for beginners! The pattern provides 3 versions: The Pure Version for a fingering weight yarn, the DK Version and a Freestyle Version that instructs you to use a different yarn of your choosing, with stripes wherever you want them.
Please check out this little video in which I explain how Matchmaker works.
The colors I used in my protoypes are:
