A beautiful yarn, hand dyed by the amazing Miss Babs from the US – exclusively in Europe in Strickmich! Shop!

A lighter fingering weight yarn between a lace- and a sockweight, Katahdin 437 is spun from the lustrous, long fibers of the wool from Bluefaced Leicester sheep. This fiber is a perfect canvas for Babs’ amazing colors, giving the yarn a beautiful depth and a beautiful, slightly shiny finish. It's great for crisp lacy shawlettes but also makes durable socks.

It is absolutely no secret that I love long, triangular shawlettes, because they are easy to wear and look great. And sometimes I wish I had something to warm my arms on chilly evenings, when I am just wearing a T-Shirt or a tank-top. Something that will stay in place when I move, goes over everything and adds a splash of color. So I made „Sleeves“: It is a shawlette that you can put your arms in, because the long ends are actually tubes. You will be able to dance in it without fear that it might come oﬀ! The knitting is pleasant and easy, mostly knit stitches with a few construction details that will keep you interested.Pattern NotesI recommend a ﬁngering or sport-weight yarn, but the pattern is written such that you can use any other yarn (gauge is not important). You will just have to try it on your arm and decide how long you want your sleeves and neck opening to be. The wider you make your arms, the longer it will be in the back. In an appendix, key stitch numbers for ﬁve sizes are provided. My version (which is a generous size M) used 250g. Plan to use more yarn for larger sizes. If you are using multiple colors, do the color changes at the beginning of the rounds or at the beginning of a right-side-row.

Ideal for wearing when riding your bike, skiing, hiking or just taking a walk with your favorite four- or two-legged friends to enjoy the panoramic views in your neighborhood. I love to knit up pretty multicolored fingering-weight yarns in simple, easy-to-do garter stitch: All the creative work the dyer has put into the skein will show! What I also love is a fun construction for a garter stitch shawl – and details that make it special. “Blauer Pfau” (means “blue peacock” in German) is a triangle with diamond-shaped cut-outs along the middle axis. And the cut-out pieces will magically (sort of) show up at one end of the shawl to add extra interest. This pattern was first published exclusively in Strickmich! Club 2021. It looks great in the original Club Yarn Katahdin 437 by Miss Babs or other hand-dyed yarn. All you need is one skein.
