Night on the Town

Product information "Night on the Town"

How about a trip to a big and vibrant city? There’s always a lot to see, especially at night: Clubs and concert venues, musical theaters, pubs and much more. When I was in High School, my best friend and I would spend many Saturday nights in Hamburg, Germany, browsing the clubs, dancing away and shooting the occasional round of pool. The color combo I chose for this Strickmich! Club shipment is a homage to those times: The gray streets and buildings, the pink and purple neon signs. Knit out of a shimmering silky yarn, this geometrically shaped cowl will make you look great on your night out on the town!

Amano Ayni
Color Amano: 5007 Blauer Mohn
Ayni by Amano is made from 80% Baby Alpaca and 20% Silk, yardage is about 200 meters / 218 yards / 50 g, so it's perfect for light but warm shawls like Rockin' Rows or Snowflake Party. Extra warm, extra soft and extra good for our planet – that’s the way we love a beautiful yarn, and the amazing alpaca yarns by Amano are just that! The fiber comes from cooperatives in Peru which employ the latest methods to ensure an animal-friendly environment and minimal impact on the surroundings. The high plains of the Andes are home to three and a half million alpacas. They have been living in this area for more than 5000 years and learned to thrive despite the rough climate and scarce food supply, earning their wool a reputation to be the most sustainable animal fiber there is. Alpaca fiber is significantly warmer than wool from sheep, it is very soft and has an attractive lustre – a dream for any knitter. It is processed by a spinning mill in the south of Peru to become one of the luxurious knitting yarns by Amano: blended with silk, merino or cashmere or pure as Baby or Imperial Alpaca in gorgeous, vibrant colors inspired by the textile traditions of South America.

Rose Candy

Rose Candy was the last pattern of Strickmich! Club 2015. Warm and fun – that’s what a knitting project for the cold season should be like to cheer us up during the dark days of winter. Make a cozy stripey cowl in garter stitch, just knitting back and forth and joining the parts modularly. No purling, no seaming, just pure fun with stripes! If you have twice the amount of yarn available, you can make your cowl longer so that it doubles as a very warm scarf – the sweet icing on the cake of our Strickmich! Club year 2015! The yarn is an animal-friendly supersoft merino in a very special, limited colorway that will make your cheeks glow with joy. Spiral Escape
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
This is the third pattern of Strickmich! Club 2017. Dark alleys, intense colors, unforgettable melodies and a tragic love story – “West Side Story” is one of the biggest music movies of all time, and great to watch while knitting. Preferably something that goes well with the colors and theme of the film, like “Spiral Escape”: A cowl made from a gradient yarn whose colors resemble those of the backgrounds in the movie. The spiraled construction mirrors the iconic fire escape stairs that are a visual theme of the musical and New York City. And this cowl is really easy to knit! Start with a little square and go on in garter stitch, knitting back and forth while forming the spiraled shape on the go by simply knitting two stitches together. No seaming! The last finishing touches are done with a crochet hook. The result is a warm and beautiful cowl in fascinating dark and intense colors, perfect to wear during fall. In this video I talk about the pattern and the yarn: Cast-On-Event-3-2017 from Martina Behm. The pattern "Spiral Escape" is part of Martina Behms book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Quadra Cowl
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Fascinating! Quadra Cowl will change its appearance just as you wish: It's especially fun when made out of a self-striping yarn or a mini-skeins. The construction comes together automatically during the knitting, no sewing or seaming required. All importang steps are explained in the accompanying videos. As the cowl is double-layered and extra warm, it will be a useful addition to your winter wardrobe!  The cowls in the pictures are made out of two sets of Zauberperlen by Schoppel (200 g in total, colorways Samarkand and Arabesk) or four balls of Edition 3 by Schoppel (colorway Englischer Garten). You can choose other yarns if you wish (e. g. Lazy Lion or Zauberball), just make sure it is not too bulky.  Please note that you will need three circular needles of the same size to make this (only for one round), length 80 cm (32 in) or more, preferably in different colors, plus four stitch markers.
