Congratulations – you’ve got one of those much-coveted skeins of Rohrspatz & Wollmeise Lacegarn (or Blend, or DK, or Pure) in your favorite colorway. Beautiful! In fact, so beautiful you are almost afraid to knit it up, because you do not know how the colors will mix and whether their beauty will be preserved in the finished object... Your answer is here: “Pool & Conquer” is a long cowl/stole that uses an innovative technique to make your yarn pool. No counting, no swatching, no calculating. Gauge does not matter as long as you like the fabric that you are making, meaning you can use your preferred needle size. The knitting is straightforward: Garter stitch back and forth and stockinette in the round, so – apart from the occasional selvedge stitch – you do not have to purl. If you use one entire skein of Wollmeise Lacegarn, you will get an impressively huge stole that you can wear as a scarf, a shawl and a big cowl. One skein of Wollmeise Blend or DK will result in a smaller cowl, if you have multiple skeins (make sure they match!), you can make a longer cowl and wear it as a scarf as well.

Rose Candy was the last pattern of Strickmich! Club 2015. Warm and fun – that’s what a knitting project for the cold season should be like to cheer us up during the dark days of winter. Make a cozy stripey cowl in garter stitch, just knitting back and forth and joining the parts modularly. No purling, no seaming, just pure fun with stripes! If you have twice the amount of yarn available, you can make your cowl longer so that it doubles as a very warm scarf – the sweet icing on the cake of our Strickmich! Club year 2015! The yarn is an animal-friendly supersoft merino in a very special, limited colorway that will make your cheeks glow with joy. As you may know, I live in an old pub in the northern German countryside, built in 1906, remodeled in the late 1980s. It’s beautiful and I really love it, but the house is quite big (big enough to hold knitting events and classes!), so we only turn on the heating in the rooms we actually use – plus the wood stove, of course. When I am sitting at my desk, I usually wear three layers of wool plus something cozy around my neck, and this big and beautiful cowl out of a soft and eco-conscious Aran-weight yarn is my new favorite: The reversible cables spiral elegantly around it, so it’s a little wider at the shoulders and narrower around your neck. Up or down, inside or out: just Big & Beautiful! To make the cowl, you need 2 skeins of Big Merino Hug from Rosy Green Wool, a cable needle, a stitch marker, and a circular knitting needle 6 mm.
