Rose Candy

Product information "Rose Candy"

Rose Candy was the last pattern of Strickmich! Club 2015.

Warm and fun – that’s what a knitting project for the cold season should be like to cheer us up during the dark days of winter. Make a cozy stripey cowl in garter stitch, just knitting back and forth and joining the parts modularly. No purling, no seaming, just pure fun with stripes! If you have twice the amount of yarn available, you can make your cowl longer so that it doubles as a very warm scarf – the sweet icing on the cake of our Strickmich! Club year 2015! The yarn is an animal-friendly supersoft merino in a very special, limited colorway that will make your cheeks glow with joy.

Here is a video in which I talk about the yarn and the design:

Rosy Green Wool Cheeky Merino Joy
Color Rosy Green Wool: 137 Puder
This yarn is pure joy: 100% Merino superwash from Argentina, spun in a traditional mill in the UK, GOTS-certified (i. e. produced animal- and eco-friendly) – and soooo supersoft! I do not know many yarns that feel as good as this next to your skin – so it's ideal for shawls, hats and scarves as well as baby clothing. My patterns Matchmaker (DK-Version) and Naiada, as well as Braidsmaid, Heaven & Space, Buds & Bumbles and Brickless are perfect with this yarn, but also my hat patterns Tensfield, Langfield, Blunk the Hat turn out wonderfully in this yarn. The "Melange" colors of Cheeky Merino Joy by Rosy Green Wool have an interesting, almost rustic look to them – while being just as soft as their solid cousins! This is achieved by dyeing a part of the white merino fiber in a dark color before it is spun in to yarn. The colors that are dyed on the skeins will then have a beautiful heathered effect. The sample "Knitters DNA" from our book "Hitchhiker Collection" was made out of two skeins of this yarn, colorway "Sea Green". The sample "Rose Candy" from our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was knit out of 1 skein of this yarn in color "Eismeer" and 1 skein in color "Nachthimmel".  My patterns  Obvious, Shore Hap Joy, Shrug & More, Corners, Edges, Stripes and  Liebe Hannah were written specifically for this yarn.

It's perfect for shawls with lace or structural patterns or cables, also for sweaters and cardigans. The perfect choice for everyone who would like to go without animal fiber!  Note: All designs made for "Cheeky Merino Joy" by Rosy Green Wool can also be worked with this yarn, as they are similar in diameter. Due to the different yardages, you will need 150 g (3 skeins) of "Morning Salutation" to substitute 100 g (1 skein) of Cheeky Merino Joy.The sample "Treehiker" from our book "Hitchhiker Collection" was made out of 200 g (four balls) of this yarn, colorway "11 Gold".

Night on the Town

How about a trip to a big and vibrant city? There’s always a lot to see, especially at night: Clubs and concert venues, musical theaters, pubs and much more. When I was in High School, my best friend and I would spend many Saturday nights in Hamburg, Germany, browsing the clubs, dancing away and shooting the occasional round of pool. The color combo I chose for this Strickmich! Club shipment is a homage to those times: The gray streets and buildings, the pink and purple neon signs. Knit out of a shimmering silky yarn, this geometrically shaped cowl will make you look great on your night out on the town!

Spiral Escape
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
This is the third pattern of Strickmich! Club 2017. Dark alleys, intense colors, unforgettable melodies and a tragic love story – “West Side Story” is one of the biggest music movies of all time, and great to watch while knitting. Preferably something that goes well with the colors and theme of the film, like “Spiral Escape”: A cowl made from a gradient yarn whose colors resemble those of the backgrounds in the movie. The spiraled construction mirrors the iconic fire escape stairs that are a visual theme of the musical and New York City. And this cowl is really easy to knit! Start with a little square and go on in garter stitch, knitting back and forth while forming the spiraled shape on the go by simply knitting two stitches together. No seaming! The last finishing touches are done with a crochet hook. The result is a warm and beautiful cowl in fascinating dark and intense colors, perfect to wear during fall. In this video I talk about the pattern and the yarn: Cast-On-Event-3-2017 from Martina Behm. The pattern "Spiral Escape" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Quadra Cowl
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Fascinating! Quadra Cowl will change its appearance just as you wish: It's especially fun when made out of a self-striping yarn or a mini-skeins. The construction comes together automatically during the knitting, no sewing or seaming required. All important steps are explained in the accompanying videos. As the cowl is double-layered and extra warm, it will be a useful addition to your winter wardrobe!  The cowls in the pictures are made out of two sets of Zauberperlen  by Schoppel (200 g in total, colorways Samarkand and Arabesk) or four balls of Edition 3  by Schoppel (colorway Englischer Garten). You can choose other yarns if you wish (e.g. Lazy Lion or Crazy Zauberball), just make sure it is not too bulky.  Please note that you will need three circular needles of the same size to make this (only for one round), length 80 cm (32 in) or more, preferably in different colors, plus four stitch markers.
