Schoppel Gradient

Product information "Schoppel Gradient"
This yarn "Gradient" by German manufacturer Schoppel consists of 100% wool, is light and voluminous due to its slightly felted structure and has most stunning color variations. Perfect for interestingly constructed hats and voluminous shawls and cowls.

Schoppel yarns are made with mulesing-free wool sourced in South America.

"Wood Warbler Cowl" was designed for 2 different balls of this yarn (colors "Schatten" and "Gelbfilter")

The color changes make the knitting extra fun, and the result looks just cool and special. The yarn is light, soft and durable. 100 g are sufficient for an adult sized hat. It´s also perfect to make a thicker Hitchhiker, Lintilla or Easy shawl (please order two balls).

The sample "Tensfield" from the book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was knit out of 60 g of this yarn, colorway "Papagei".

Wood Warbler Cowl

Gradient yarns are fascinating, and the fun doubles when you use two of them together: The constant color changes will produce new interesting stripes every couple of rows. Knit on the bias in garter stitch, this cowl makes use of a clever construction, resulting in a useful shape that will keep the back of your neck and your front warm and cozy. This pattern was originally published in Jen Arnall-Culliford’s book “A Year of Techniques” in the chapter teaching you how to do a provisional cast on and garter stitch grafting. Tensfield
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Got this skein of pretty gradient yarn and still looking for the perfect pattern? Here it is: Make a simple but cleverly constructed hat that brings out the beauty of those color changes. Or pick up some colorful sock yarn leftovers and go crazy with stripes! It will fit your head (or your husbands’ or your toddler’s) perfectly, no matter what weight your yarn is or what gauge you are knitting at. You can adjust the size as you go. The knitting is straight-forward back-and-forth garter stitch, but you will certainly enjoy the interesting 3-dimensional construction. This hat is a quick knit that even adventurous beginners will be able to master. The name? The angled stripes reminded me of the fields surrounding our village. This is a beanie pattern. If you prefer a slouchier hat or one that you can fold up, have a look at Langfield. Techniques: Garter stitch, k2tog, increases by m1 and kfb. When finishing this hat, you can either use a 3-needle-bind-off for the little remaining gap at the top or grafting. Don’t worry if you have never done this before – I have an instructional video here. Yarn used for hats in the pictures: • Schoppel Gradient, Color Papagei, 60 g, Needle 3.5 mm • Mystery Handspun Alpaca yarn from Chile, 130 g, Needle 5.0 mm • Zitron Nimbus, Color No. 13, 60 g, Needle 4.0 mm • Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply, Colors Pewter, Ansel, Envy me, Impatiens, 55 g, needle 2.5 mmThe pattern "Tensfield" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Feather & Flap
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
A hat for elegant ladies and hoodie-lovers, for those with permanently cold ears and people who would love to wear a hat with a feather or kitty ears – here it is! “Feather & Flap” is a super-versatile cute hat. It has a pointy rim that can be rolled or folded up or left hanging down to warm the back of your neck – there are endless possibilities. Play with it and have fun! “Feather & Flap” is the fashion-forward cousin of my “Tensfield” hat and shares a very desirable quality with its more humble family members: It can be adjusted to fit any head size during the knitting and works with any yarn you have in your stash – gauge does not matter! To make the unusual construction visible, a gradient yarn that is not too thin works best. The yarn I used is "Schoppel Gradient", color "Grauzone", which are available here in Strickmich! Shop.

Schoppel Alpaka Zauber
Color Schoppel: Moonbar
Another great innovative yarn with long, harmonic color changes by Schoppel: voluminous and warm with a mix of 50% soft wool (Merino), 45% Alpaca and 5% Linen, it's just perfect for your next winter hat! "Alpaka Zauber" feels and looks a bit like "Schoppel Gradient": the fibers are not so much spun as slightly felted into a yarn, but it's so much softer and feels better against the skin. A good choice for warm hats, cozy shawls and cowls that will see you through winter. The color changes are a bit lighter and less obvious as in "Gradient", but – as always with Schoppel yarns – they are really beautiful. They will come out really pretty if you choose an originally constructed hat like Tensfield, a shawl like Easy or Feldmark or a cowl like Spiral Escape as a pattern.
