"Pur" by Schoppel is made of 100% slightly felted Merino fiber and comes in amazing colors – ideal for hats like Blunk the Hat, Langfield or Tensfield! The yarn is voluminous and warm but very lightweight. One skein will make an adult-sized hat.
Yarns by Schoppel are made with mulesing-free fiber from South America.
A hat for elegant ladies and hoodie-lovers, for those with permanently cold ears and people who would love to wear a hat with a feather or kitty ears – here it is! “Feather & Flap” is a super-versatile cute hat. It has a pointy rim that can be rolled or folded up or left hanging down to warm the back of your neck – there are endless possibilities. Play with it and have fun! “Feather & Flap” is the fashion-forward cousin of my “Tensfield” hat and shares a very desirable quality with its more humble family members: It can be adjusted to fit any head size during the knitting and works with any yarn you have in your stash – gauge does not matter! To make the unusual construction visible, a gradient yarn that is not too thin works best.
The yarn I used is "Schoppel Gradient", color "Grauzone", which are available here in Strickmich! Shop.
Wearing little fingerless mittens like these somehow makes me feel a little tougher – maybe that’s because leather versions of this are frequently worn by bikers, cyclists or people operating some kind of heavy machinery. Well, the only machinery I tend to operate is my keyboard, but these mitts do a fabulous job keeping my hands toasty! They are made of a luxurious, but resistant blend of wool and alpaca, so they are cozy and warm but will wear well, no matter what task is at hand. They are intentionally short in order not to cause bulk when wearing them with long sleeves and to make sure you have easy access to your wristwatch.
One pair uses up only half a ball (25 g) of yarn and can be finished in one or two nights of knitting – great if you need a last-minute gift. The unusual construction works (almost) without purl stitches and can be adapted to the recipient’s hand size during the knitting, so you can substitute yarns and knit them at a different gauge if desired.
This pattern is written for one long circular needle. If you would like to use dpns, please be aware that there are no instructions given for how to use them with this pattern and you would have to make the necessary adjustments yourself.
Yarn used in the samples: Blacker Yarns Brushwork, colors Wash, Stipple and Scumble. The pattern "Tough & Toasty" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".
Make a hat that will fit anyone from baby to adult! No matter what kind of yarn you use, what size your head is or what gauge you are knitting at: This hat is adjusted as you go, you can make it tight or a little looser, and you can also choose how long you want it to be. Fold it up or wear it slouchy-style. The interesting 3-dimensional construction looks particularly good in a gradient yarn or your very own handspun, or use scraps of sockyarn. Anything will work! This is a sister pattern to my beanie hat pattern “Tensfield”. “Langfield” is a slouchy hat. If you are looking for a tight-fitting beanie, please have check out Tensfield.
Yarn used in the pictues: Zitron Nimbus, color 20. Like “Tensfield”, this hat can be made with your favorite yarn, no matter what weight!
To protect your favorite pieces from every knitter’s arch enemy, the moth, we are offering you now the lavender sachets by Aries. The handmade sachets contain the northern german „Lavendula angustifolia“. Besides protecting your clothes in an ecological way, it also spreads a fragrance in your closet. The plant is cultivated on the probably smallest organic cultivation area in Germany (5382 m²) the “Stapeler Kräuterfeld”. By selling this product, we are actively supporting the biodiversity and species protection. To protect your shawls and sweaters just hang the sachet on a hanger or put it directly between the clothes or your yarn stash. The sachet lasts many months, but you should knead it every now and then, to reactivate the fragrance.
Two sachets per unit.
