Shrug & More

Product information "Shrug & More"

Easy to knit, multifunctional and interesting to look at – that’s the kind of knitting project that I am most fond of these days! Shrug & More was designed as a garter stitch shrug, but the arm openings are intentionally big enough to fit over your head – which creates endless possibilities to wear! The short-row shaping of the collar and one two-tone sleeve make it an interesting piece of your wardrobe. The yarn I chose is a certified organic ultrasoft merino which is a true pleasure to have next to your skin.

2 skeins of Rosy Green Wool Cheeky Merino Joy in the main color plus 1 skein in the secondary color will be sufficient to make a "Shrug & More" up to approx. size L. For larger sizes, please have 3 skeins in the main color ready.

Strickmich! Bowl – Accessory Pouch
This knitting accessory bag is different: Open the zipper and it will expand to a bowl where you can see all your knitting accessories at once. With a diameter of a little less than 10 inches, this bowl holds everything you need when knitting: circular needles, dpns, crochet hooks, tape measures, needle gauges, pens and pencils... you name it! It is also suitable for small projects like socks or hats or can be used as a pencil case. Just put it on the table in front of you and go! And when you're done, everything will be well protected by the sturdy organic cotton fabric. Strickmich! Bowl is sewn by Manomama in Augsburg, Germany after an idea by knitwear designer Martina Behm: Sturdy organic cotton fabric that will hold its shape and a reinforced bowl bottom with wool felt from German sheep who live in the Black Forest. The contrast-color zipper looks great with the Strickmich! logo tag and is made in Germany as well.  Manomama is a project by Sina Trinkwalder, who established Manomama in the old textile hub Augsburg in Bavaria, employing people who find it hard to find work otherwise. Fair pay and good working conditions are an essential part of the project. Poppy Project
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Summer is close – and a typical sight around here are pretty deep red poppy flowers showing their friendly faces. But even in warmer temperatures, a little woolen something to keep your neck warm might be nice: “Poppy Project” is a modular cowl with two additional openings and multiple wearing options – you might even wear it as a little shoulder warmer. Knit entirely in garter stitch without any seams, it’s a perfect project to relax, have a good time and chat – online or offline – with your favorite knitter friends. The sample in the pictures was knit with one skein (150 g) of Alte Künste Big Merino. It doubles as a shrug up to size M. If you wear a larger size, you can wear it as a  versatile cowl or choose to add a second skein of yarn to make it bigger.   "Poppy Project" can be worked out of any fingering weight yarn (400 m / 100 g). You will need 150 g of yarn up to size M and 200-250 g for larger sizes.

Sleeves PDF Download

It is absolutely no secret that I love long, triangular shawlettes, because they are easy to wear and look great. And sometimes I wish I had something to warm my arms on chilly evenings, when I am just wearing a T-Shirt or a tank-top. Something that will stay in place when I move, goes over everything and adds a splash of color. So I made „Sleeves“:  It is a shawlette that you can put your arms in, because the long ends are actually tubes. You will be able to dance in it without fear that it might come off! The knitting is pleasant and easy, mostly knit stitches with a few construction details that will keep you interested.Pattern NotesI recommend a fingering or sport-weight yarn, but the pattern is written such that you can use any other yarn (gauge is not important). You will just have to try it on your arm and decide how long you want your sleeves and neck opening to be. The wider you make your arms, the longer it will be in the back. In an appendix, key stitch numbers for five sizes are provided.  My version (which is a generous size M) used 250g. Plan to use more yarn for larger sizes. If you are using multiple colors, do the color changes at the beginning of the rounds or at the beginning of a right-side-row.

Smooth Sailor
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
This is the 2nd pattern from Strickmich! Club 2016 Smooth Sailor is whatever you would like it to be: Put your arms through the holes and wear it as a shrug. Fold it lengthwise and pull one end through one of the holes, and it will turn into a cozy scarf. Stick your head through one of the openings and one arm through the other and it becomes an asymmetric poncho. Fold it in half such that both holes lie on top of each other and pull it over your head as a capelet. The special 3-dimensional construction makes it all possible! Smooth Sailor is the perfect canvas for a beautiful hand-dyed laceweight, consisting of a plain stockinette body with a little ruffle added at the end. It also is a wonderful project to take on your vacation: Work the cast-on and the setup at home, and have a mindless and lightweight project to knit on in your deckchair. Smooth sailing!  Find the beautiful "Marina" by Manos del Uruguay here in our shop.  Here is a video in which I demonstrate the various ways to wear Smooth Sailor.  Cast-On-Event2-2016 from Martina Behm on Vimeo.
