Smooth Sailor

Product information "Smooth Sailor"

This is the 2nd pattern from Strickmich! Club 2016

Smooth Sailor is whatever you would like it to be: Put your arms through the holes and wear it as a shrug. Fold it lengthwise and pull one end through one of the holes, and it will turn into a cozy scarf. Stick your head through one of the openings and one arm through the other and it becomes an asymmetric poncho. Fold it in half such that both holes lie on top of each other and pull it over your head as a capelet. The special 3-dimensional construction makes it all possible! Smooth Sailor is the perfect canvas for a beautiful hand-dyed laceweight, consisting of a plain stockinette body with a little ruffle added at the end. It also is a wonderful project to take on your vacation: Work the cast-on and the setup at home, and have a mindless and lightweight project to knit on in your deckchair. Smooth sailing!

Manos del Uruguay Marina
Color Manos del Uruguay: Martina´s Berry Pie
"Manos Marina" is a single-ply laceweight (100% Wool – Merino Superwash), very soft and light and just right for a beautiful shawl like Jasminde, Thousand Tulips or Lapislazuli. Martina has used this yarn for one of her Strickmich! Club designs and loved it so much that she suggested we carry it here the shop. Read Manos del Uruguays profile here on Martina's website.  The yarn is dyed in a women's project in Uruguay, providing fair working conditions and pay for women in rural areas.  This yarn proves that making the world more beautiful and a better place at the same time actually works!

Schoppel Lace Flower
Color Schoppel: Frühblüher
Color changing yarn in fascinating shades: That's what southern German yarn maker Schoppel is famous for. And with "Lace Flower" they really have outdone themselves: A mulesing-free, fine Merino fiber was spun into a shimmering one-ply that really makes the colors shine. And with 1200 m per flower, you will get enough yardage to make a big Lapislazuli or Smooth Sailor. And it's superwash! Perfect, right? The sample "Nuvem" in our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was made out of one Schoppel Lace Flower, colorway "Blasser Schimmer".

Addi-Click Lace Long Set
Can the concept of an interchangeable needle set be improved any further? Yes, it can! I have been using several different needle systems over the years, and all of them had the problem that after a while, the needle tips would become loose, yarn would be caught in the screwing section or the tips would fall off entirely (a catastrophe when you are knitting lace...!). The click system by German manufacturer Addi solves this problem: You insert the end of the cable, press and turn – and the needle tip is secured for good. It won't come off, even after many hours of knitting. The mechanism is not hard to learn (it's shown in this Youtube video (opens in new window, in German – but you will see how it works!). It's a patented, true innovation and I think it's really awesome as it makes knitters' lives easier. What I also like about it: If you need to set stitches aside you can just use a connector to attach the ends of the cable to each other (this would not work with other systems!).  If you would like to make the switch to the Addi click system, this luxurious needle set is four you: 8 pairs of Addi Lace tips (sharp, suitable for complex patterns) in 3.5 to 8 mms, 3 cables (lengths 60, 80 and 100 cm) and a connector (which lets you combine the cables to 140, 160 and 180 cm). They come in a beautiful pink-purple satin case, so there won't be any chaos and you will always find the tips you need. On the back of the case there's a zippered pouch for the cables. It's also a great gift for your favorite knitter. This premium knitting needle set features different pairs of addi-click needle tips and addi-click cords in different lengths that are quickly combined to create the exact circular knitting needle you need. These needles are great quality "Made in Germany". The needle sizes are printed on the points (metric and US).

Poppy Project

Summer is close – and a typical sight around here are pretty deep red poppy flowers showing their friendly faces. But even in warmer temperatures, a little woolen something to keep your neck warm might be nice: “Poppy Project” is a modular cowl with two additional openings and multiple wearing options – you might even wear it as a little shoulder warmer. Knit entirely in garter stitch without any seams, it’s a perfect project to relax, have a good time and chat – online or offline – with your favorite knitter friends. The sample in the pictures was knit with one skein (150 g) of Alte Künste Big Merino. It doubles as a shrug up to size M. If you wear a larger size, you can wear it as a  versatile cowl or choose to add a second skein of yarn to make it bigger.   "Poppy Project" can be worked out of any fingering weight yarn (400 m / 100 g). You will need 150 g of yarn up to size M and 200-250 g for larger sizes.

Shrug & More
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Easy to knit, multifunctional and interesting to look at – that’s the kind of knitting project that I am most fond of these days! Shrug & More was designed as a garter stitch shrug, but the arm openings are intentionally big enough to fit over your head – which creates endless possibilities to wear! The short-row shaping of the collar and one two-tone sleeve make it an interesting piece of your wardrobe. The yarn I chose is a certified organic ultrasoft merino which is a true pleasure to have next to your skin. How to wear Shrug & More from Martina Behm on Vimeo. Useful hints for knitting Shrug & More: Shrug & More Instructions from Martina Behm on Vimeo. 2 skeins of Rosy Green Wool Cheeky Merino Joy in the main color plus 1 skein in the secondary color will be sufficient to make a "Shrug & More" up to approx. size L. For larger sizes, please have 3 skeins in the main color ready.
