Spiral Escape

Product information "Spiral Escape"

This is the third pattern of Strickmich! Club 2017.

Dark alleys, intense colors, unforgettable melodies and a tragic love story – “West Side Story” is one of the biggest music movies of all time, and great to watch while knitting. Preferably something that goes well with the colors and theme of the film, like “Spiral Escape”: A cowl made from a gradient yarn whose colors resemble those of the backgrounds in the movie. The spiraled construction mirrors the iconic fire escape stairs that are a visual theme of the musical and New York City. And this cowl is really easy to knit! Start with a little square and go on in garter stitch, knitting back and forth while forming the spiraled shape on the go by simply knitting two stitches together. No seaming! The last finishing touches are done with a crochet hook. The result is a warm and beautiful cowl in fascinating dark and intense colors, perfect to wear during fall.

In this video I talk about the pattern and the yarn:

Manos del Uruguay Fino Minis
Color Manos del Uruguay: Georgina
Aren't they cute? These Mini-Sets out of "Fino" by Manos del Uruguay contain 5 skeins of 20 g each in gorgeous colors that go really well together. Work them up as a gradient or use them for stripes combined with an entire 100 g-skein to make a "Leftie".  "Fino" is a voluminous, luxurious single-ply with 30% silk and 70% wool (Merino) – great for cowls and shawls that will be worn against the skin, e. g. "Wolkig" or "Heaven & Space".  At Manos del Uruguay, local women have been spinning and dyeing the most beautiful yarns for forty years. The project was initiated to give women in rural areas the chance to get jobs in the artisanal field with fair pay and a good working environment. Please note: This yarn is not superwash and prefers to be washed by hand instead of in the woollen cycle in your washing machine. The sample "Lupino" in our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was made out of one set of these Mini-skeins (color combination: Dorothea).

Strickmich! Big Bowl - your project bag
Strickmich! Big Bowl is the more voluminous version of her little sister, the Strickmich! Bowl Accessory bag: Open it up and it will expand to a useful bowl that holds your yarn balls when knitting. Sturdy cotton with a wool felt bottom protects your precious yarn, and knitting from it is a breeze. When you close it, you can carry it with the attached sling. Strickmich! Big Bowl holds 250 to 350 g yarn (on the ball or knitted) plus your needles. The smaller version (Strickmich! Bowl – accessory bag) is suitable for knitting accessories or small projects with up to 100 g yarn. The yarn and decoration in the pictures are not included.Strickmich! Big Bowl is sewn by Manomama in Augsburg, Germany after an idea by knitwear designer Martina Behm: Sturdy organic cotton fabric that will hold its shape and a reinforced bowl bottom with wool felt from German sheep who live in the Black Forest. The contrast-color zipper looks great with the Strickmich! logo tag and is made in Germany as well. Manomama is a project by Sina Trinkwalder, who established Manomama in the old textile hub Augsburg in Bavaria, employing people who find it hard to find work otherwise. Fair pay and good working conditions are an essential part of the project. Materials100% organic cotton from Tanzania, woven in Northrine-Westphalia, Germany, GOTS certifiedWool felt from sheep from the Black Forest, GermanyZipper made in GermanyMeasurementsDiameter upper edge ca. 30 cmDiameter bottom 18 cmHeight of Edge approx. 13 cmLength when closed approx. 37 cmWidth when closed approx.  17 cm

Rose Candy

Rose Candy was the last pattern of Strickmich! Club 2015. Warm and fun – that’s what a knitting project for the cold season should be like to cheer us up during the dark days of winter. Make a cozy stripey cowl in garter stitch, just knitting back and forth and joining the parts modularly. No purling, no seaming, just pure fun with stripes! If you have twice the amount of yarn available, you can make your cowl longer so that it doubles as a very warm scarf – the sweet icing on the cake of our Strickmich! Club year 2015! The yarn is an animal-friendly supersoft merino in a very special, limited colorway that will make your cheeks glow with joy. Here is a video in which I talk about the yarn and the design: Cast-On-2015-4 from Martina Behm on Vimeo. The pattern "Rose Candy" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Quadra Cowl
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Fascinating! Quadra Cowl will change its appearance just as you wish: It's especially fun when made out of a self-striping yarn or a mini-skeins. The construction comes together automatically during the knitting, no sewing or seaming required. All important steps are explained in the accompanying videos. As the cowl is double-layered and extra warm, it will be a useful addition to your winter wardrobe!  The cowls in the pictures are made out of two sets of Zauberperlen  by Schoppel (200 g in total, colorways Samarkand and Arabesk) or four balls of Edition 3  by Schoppel (colorway Englischer Garten). You can choose other yarns if you wish (e.g. Lazy Lion or Crazy Zauberball), just make sure it is not too bulky.  Please note that you will need three circular needles of the same size to make this (only for one round), length 80 cm (32 in) or more, preferably in different colors, plus four stitch markers.

Night on the Town
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
How about a trip to a big and vibrant city? There’s always a lot to see, especially at night: Clubs and concert venues, musical theaters, pubs and much more. When I was in High School, my best friend and I would spend many Saturday nights in Hamburg, Germany, browsing the clubs, dancing away and shooting the occasional round of pool. The color combo I chose for this Strickmich! Club shipment is a homage to those times: The gray streets and buildings, the pink and purple neon signs. Knit out of a shimmering silky yarn, this geometrically shaped cowl will make you look great on your night out on the town!
