Garter stitch. It‘s simple, it‘s warm and squishy, stretchy and reversible and it makes any variegated, hand-dyed sockyarn really shine. So here‘s Hitchhiker: It is a narrow, slightly asymmetrically shaped triangular shawlette that can be wrapped around the neck several times. The ends are long enough to tie it with a knot. One of the short sides of the triangle features a saw-tooth border that evolves naturally during the knitting and gives the shawl its unusual shape. Because the knitting starts at one end, you can stop anytime, bind off and end up with a useful neckerchief, shawlette or shawl. A perfect project to relax in between more complicated ones, also very suitable for beginners and young knitters. The name? Well, if you use a 150 g skein of Wollmeise 100% Merino for this, you can make how many teeth? That‘s right, 42. Quadra Cowl

Fascinating! Quadra Cowl will change its appearance just as you wish: It's especially fun when made out of a self-striping yarn or a mini-skeins. The construction comes together automatically during the knitting, no sewing or seaming required. All important steps are explained in the accompanying videos. The cowls in the pictures are made out of two sets of Zauberperlen by Schoppel (200 g in total, colorways Samarkand and Arabesk) or four balls of Edition 3 by Schoppel (colorway Englischer Garten). You can choose other yarns if you wish (e.g. Lazy Lion or Crazy Zauberball), just make sure it is not too bulky. Please note that you will need three circular needles of the same size to make this (only for one round), length 80 cm (32 in) or more, preferably in different colors, plus four stitch markers.

“Brickless” was designed for the Miss Babs 2012 Knitting Tour, and was exclusive to the members of the Tour for six months. Berlin in Winter is colder than most other big German cities – when travelling there, a big, cozy shawlette like this will come in handy! The beautiful colors are reminiscent of bright city lights in dark winter nights. The shape of the shawlette is an asymmetrical, long triangle, formed by rows that are getting longer and longer as you go. They are worked in different simple, but very effective patterns that make them look a little like a skyline of tall houses. These skyscrapers are not built with bricks, but concrete and steel – hence the name, „Brickless“.
