What an amazing yarn! And these colors! Here at Strickmich!, we could not believe our eyes when we opened the shipment from Uschitita, as it was all so beautiful. The yarn base "Pure Sock" is the same that we used for the second project of Strickmich! Club 2022. Here, you find this pure merino yarn base in six different colors, all quite typical for the Uschitita dyeing style: quite muted base colors with fun and unusual speckles. This yarn will make your knitting exciting and the end result absolutely stunning! It's perfectly suited for garter stitch shawls as well as lace patterns, as the multicolors are not so dominant that they will eat up all your efforts.

So cozy, so comfy, so colorful: Broaden your horizons with Panoramic Cowl! It’s a great project to round off our Strickmich! Club motto “Naturally Nature” of 2020, as the colorway (“Landscape”) and the construction celebrate the beauty of what is around us. “Panoramic Cowl” is just the thing to add a little color and warmth to your winter wardrobe! The construction is unusual but very simple and a pleasure to knit. The yarn is creatively dyed and feels amazing when wearing it. Your neck and chest will be warm and protected from chilly winds outside, and nothing will come off or be exposed. Ideal for wearing when riding your bike, skiing, hiking or just taking a walk with your favorite four- or two-legged friends to enjoy the panoramic views in your neighborhood. This pattern was exclusive to members of Strickmich! Club during the first six months after its publication in 2020. The colorway "Landscape" was dyed exclusively for us by Tieke Garne.

Hitchhiker

Garter stitch. It‘s simple, it‘s warm and squishy, stretchy and reversible and it makes any variegated, hand-dyed sockyarn really shine. So here‘s Hitchhiker: It is a narrow, slightly asymmetrically shaped triangular shawlette that can be wrapped around the neck several times. The ends are long enough to tie it with a knot. One of the short sides of the triangle features a saw-tooth border that evolves naturally during the knitting and gives the shawl its unusual shape. Because the knitting starts at one end, you can stop anytime, bind off and end up with a useful neckerchief, shawlette or shawl. A perfect project to relax in between more complicated ones, also very suitable for beginners and young knitters. The name? Well, if you use a 150 g skein of Wollmeise 100% Merino for this, you can make how many teeth? That‘s right, 42. The answer to the question about the universe and everything, according to Douglas Adams‘ wonderful book „The Hitchhiker‘s Guide to the Galaxy“. Oh, those colorful hand-dyed yarn skeins that can be real divas when it comes to finding the right pattern! How about this: A soft, stretchy cape-cowl-hybrid that extends right below your shoulders and replaces a scarf beneath your jacket or cardigan. I love that it does not leave any gaps at the neck where the cold wind can sneak in, as scarves usually do. Vertical garter stitch (no purling required!) really emphasizes the beautiful color variations, short rows prevent funny pooling and guarantee a comfy shoulder-hugging fit. You can button it up for extra warmth or leave the collar open for a more relaxed look. I named this pattern after Italian jazz- and chanson singer Caterina Valente who was a huge success in the 1950s in Germany. Manos del Uruguay Marina

Color Manos del Uruguay: Shantung

"Manos Marina" is a single-ply laceweight (100% Wool – Merino Superwash), very soft and light and just right for a beautiful shawl like Jasminde, Thousand Tulips or Lapislazuli. Martina has used this yarn for one of her Strickmich! Club designs and loved it so much that she suggested we carry it here the shop. Read Manos del Uruguays profile here on Martina's website. The yarn is dyed in a women's project in Uruguay, providing fair working conditions and pay for women in rural areas. This yarn proves that making the world more beautiful and a better place at the same time actually works!
