Miss Babs - Yowza

Product information "Miss Babs - Yowza"

Yowza! Whatta Skein!

You’ll be saying “Yowza! These skeins are BIG!” too when you see this yarn. Yowza is perfect for sweaters, baby items, and snuggly shawls and wraps. Yowza has a smooth and soft hand that works well for textured stitching. This yarn is often substituted in patterns calling for a DK weight yarn.

Care Instructions: Machine wash gentle. This yarn should be dried flat for best results.

This colorway can be highly variable, so feel free to give us a call for a current description of what we have, or if you have any questions about the color.

The sample "Brickless" from our book "Hitchhiker Collection" was made out of one skein of this yarn, colorway "Berlin".

The sample "Matchmaker" from our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was knit out of two skeins of this yarn, one in colorway "Lobster Legs" and one in "Good Morning Glory"

Brickless
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
“Brickless” was designed for the Miss Babs 2012 Knitting Tour, and was exclusive to the members of the Tour for six months. Berlin in Winter is colder than most other big German cities – when travelling there, a big, cozy shawlette like this will come in handy! The beautiful colors are reminiscent of bright city lights in dark winter nights. The shape of the shawlette is an asymmetrical, long triangle, formed by rows that are getting longer and longer as you go. They are worked in different simple, but very effective patterns that make them look a little like a skyline of tall houses. These skyscrapers are not built with bricks, but concrete and steel – hence the name, „Brickless“. And also: No more bricks in the wall that used to divide Berlin. The pattern "Brickless" is part of Martina Behms book "The Hitchhiker Collection".

Matchmaker
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Cowls and loops are just wonderful: You sling them around and you’re ready to go! Also, I really like how roomy and warm they are. And since I wanted one that looks good in my favorite hand-dyed yarn, I made Matchmaker. Its very special triangular but 3-dimensional shape makes it very versatile and warm in the right places. Entirely knit in garter stitch, it is a mindless pleasure to knit. I called this one “Matchmaker”, because you can choose your two favorite handdyed colorways and marry them to this comfy, squishy, oversized cowl (the perfect use for Wollmeise’s “We’re Different”-bags!). The design is such that there are no spooky techniques involved (like provisional cast-ons, short rows or the like), and there is no joining in the round where you might accidentally twist something. Just straightforward knitting and a few increases and decreases - very suitable for beginners! The pattern provides 3 versions: The Pure Version for a fingering weight yarn, the DK Version and a Freestyle Version that instructs you to use a different yarn of your choosing, with stripes wherever you want them. Please check out this little video in which I explain how Matchmaker works. The colors I used in my protoypes are: Wollmeise Pure: Xaverl (Color A, 135g) and So long Kitty (Color B, 150g) Wollmeise Pure: Vincent (Color A, 135g) and Sail the 7 Seas (Color B, 150g)Wollmeise Merino DK: Dunkle Kirsche (Color A, 165g) and Tutu dark (Color B, 155g)The pattern "Matchmaker" is part of Martina Behms book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Wood Warbler Cowl
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Gradient yarns are fascinating, and the fun doubles when you use two of them together: The constant color changes will produce new interesting stripes every couple of rows. Knit on the bias in garter stitch, this cowl makes use of a clever construction, resulting in a useful shape that will keep the back of your neck and your front warm and cozy. This pattern was originally published in Jen Arnall-Culliford’s book “A Year of Techniques” in the chapter teaching you how to do a provisional cast on and garter stitch grafting. Strickmich! Big Bowl - your project bag
Strickmich! Big Bowl is the more voluminous version of her little sister, the Strickmich! Bowl Accessory bag: Open it up and it will expand to a useful bowl that holds your yarn balls when knitting. Sturdy cotton with a wool felt bottom protects your precious yarn, and knitting from it is a breeze. When you close it, you can carry it with the attached sling. Strickmich! Big Bowl holds 250 to 350 g yarn (on the ball or knitted) plus your needles. The smaller version (Strickmich! Bowl – accessory bag) is suitable for knitting accessories or small projects with up to 100 g yarn. The yarn and decoration in the pictures are not included. Strickmich! Big Bowl is sewn by Manomama in Augsburg, Germany after an idea by knitwear designer Martina Behm: Sturdy organic cotton fabric that will hold its shape and a reinforced bowl bottom with wool felt from German sheep who live in the Black Forest. The contrast-color zipper looks great with the Strickmich! logo tag and is made in Germany as well. Manomama is a project by Sina Trinkwalder, who established Manomama in the old textile hub Augsburg in Bavaria, employing people who find it hard to find work otherwise. Fair pay and good working conditions are an essential part of the project. Materials100% organic cotton from Tanzania, woven in Northrine-Westphalia, Germany, GOTS certifiedWool felt from sheep from the Black Forest, GermanyZipper made in Germany MeasurementsDiameter upper edge ca. 30 cmDiameter bottom 18 cmHeight of Edge approx. 13 cmLength when closed approx. 37 cmWidth when closed approx.  17 cm

Addi Click Lace Long Etui
Can the concept of an interchangeable needle set be improved any further? Yes, it can! I have been using several different needle systems over the years, and all of them had the problem that after a while, the needle tips would become loose, yarn would be caught in the screwing section or the tips would fall off entirely (a catastrophe when you are knitting lace...!). The click system by German manufacturer Addi solves this problem: You insert the end of the cable, press and turn – and the needle tip is secured for good. It won't come off, even after many hours of knitting. The mechanism is not hard to learn (it's shown in this Youtube video (opens in new window, in German – but you will see how it works!). It's a patented, true innovation and I think it's really awesome as it makes knitters' lives easier. What I also like about it: If you need to set stitches aside you can just use a connector to attach the ends of the cable to each other (this would not work with other systems!).  If you would like to make the switch to the Addi click system, this luxurious needle set is four you: 8 pairs of Addi Lace tips (sharp, suitable for complex patterns) in 3.5 to 8 mms, 3 cables (lengths 60, 80 and 100 cm) and a connector (which lets you combine the cables to 140, 160 and 180 cm). They come in a beautiful pink-purple satin case, so there won't be any chaos and you will always find the tips you need. On the back of the case there's a zippered pouch for the cables. It's also a great gift for your favorite knitter. This premium knitting needle set features different pairs of addi-click needle tips and addi-click cords in different lengths that are quickly combined to create the exact circular knitting needle you need. These needles are great quality "Made in Germany". The needle sizes are printed on the points (metric and US).  The set contains: 8 pairs of addi lace needle tips (3.5 - 8 mm, US 4-11), 3 addi cords 60, 80 and 100 cm, 1 connector.

Aries Cedar Wood Blocks
Protect your handknitted shawls, socks and sweaters from moths: The fragrance blocks by Aries are made out of Atlas Cedar wood, which grows in Toscana, Italy. One block suffices to protect 11ft². Just place it between your knitted items or amidst your yarn stash – or wherever you would like the fragrance to spread. We also recommend to sand down the block every now and then with abrasive paper to reactivate the fragrance!

Schoppel Alpaka Zauber
Color Schoppel: Moonbar
Another great innovative yarn with long, harmonic color changes by Schoppel: voluminous and warm with a mix of 50% soft wool (Merino), 45% Alpaca and 5% Linen, it's just perfect for your next winter hat! "Alpaka Zauber" feels and looks a bit like "Schoppel Gradient": the fibers are not so much spun as slightly felted into a yarn, but it's so much softer and feels better against the skin. A good choice for warm hats, cozy shawls and cowls that will see you through winter. The color changes are a bit lighter and less obvious as in "Gradient", but – as always with Schoppel yarns – they are really beautiful. They will come out really pretty if you choose an originally constructed hat like Tensfield, a shawl like Easy or Feldmark or a cowl like Sprial Escape as a pattern.

Rosy Green Wool Big Merino Hug
Color Rosy Green Wool: 057 Wilde Malve
This yarn is the big sister to "Cheeky Merino Joy": Just as soft and cozy, the same beautiful colors, but with only 160 m per 100 grams much more voluminous. A great yarn for non-scratchy hats, big scarves, baby blankets, sweaters or XXL-versions of Martinas shawl patterns. Big Merino Hug consists of 100% Merino superwash, the fiber comes from Argentina and is mulesing-free, it's spun and dyed in the UK and GOTS-certified (animal- and environmentally friendly). A yarn like a big hug!   All yarns by Rosy Green Wool are GOTS-certified and made with Merino fiber from Patagonia (mulesing-free).  Martina has designed "Big & Beautiful" especially for this yarn.
