Rosen Bridge

Product information "Rosen Bridge"

Looking for the perfect, elegant thing to go with the gown you picked for that very special night? Here it is: an opulent stole, like the ones Hollywood actresses used to wear in the 1950s. This stole will let you travel in time, but maybe not in space, like a real Einstein-Rosen-Bridge would (nerdy old me couldn’t resist another geeky pattern name).
I designed this stole especially for one of those stunning, huge skeins of handdyed laceweight in a dazzling variegated color. These need a simple pattern to show off the beautiful dyejob and not distract from it. “Rosen Bridge” is 3-dimensionally constructed as a long tube and can be worn like a warm stole around your shoulders for just the right amount of warmth, but it also works as a voluminous scarf around your neck or as a big cowl if you open it up and pull it over your head.

A fun, relaxing knit without a single stitch of purl, no special techniques required. It is so easy that even beginning knitters will find it enjoyable to make, and experienced knitters will appreciate its qualities on knit or movie nights.

Manos del Uruguay Marina
Color Manos del Uruguay: Grappe Stain
"Manos Marina" is a single-ply laceweight (100% Wool – Merino Superwash), very soft and light and just right for a beautiful shawl like Jasminde, Thousand Tulips or Lapislazuli. Martina has used this yarn for one of her Strickmich! Club designs and loved it so much that she suggested we carry it here the shop. Read Manos del Uruguays profile here on Martina's website.  The yarn is dyed in a women's project in Uruguay, providing fair working conditions and pay for women in rural areas.  This yarn proves that making the world more beautiful and a better place at the same time actually works!

Strickmich! Bowl – Accessory Pouch
This knitting accessory bag is different: Open the zipper and it will expand to a bowl where you can see all your knitting accessories at once. With a diameter of a little less than 10 inches, this bowl holds everything you need when knitting: circular needles, dpns, crochet hooks, tape measures, needle gauges, pens and pencils... you name it! It is also suitable for small projects like socks or hats or can be used as a pencil case. Just put it on the table in front of you and go! And when you're done, everything will be well protected by the sturdy organic cotton fabric. Strickmich! Bowl is sewn by Manomama in Augsburg, Germany after an idea by knitwear designer Martina Behm: Sturdy organic cotton fabric that will hold its shape and a reinforced bowl bottom with wool felt from German sheep who live in the Black Forest. The contrast-color zipper looks great with the Strickmich! logo tag and is made in Germany as well.  Manomama is a project by Sina Trinkwalder, who established Manomama in the old textile hub Augsburg in Bavaria, employing people who find it hard to find work otherwise. Spiral Escape
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
This is the third pattern of Strickmich! Club 2017. Dark alleys, intense colors, unforgettable melodies and a tragic love story – “West Side Story” is one of the biggest music movies of all time, and great to watch while knitting. Preferably something that goes well with the colors and theme of the film, like “Spiral Escape”: A cowl made from a gradient yarn whose colors resemble those of the backgrounds in the movie. The spiraled construction mirrors the iconic fire escape stairs that are a visual theme of the musical and New York City. And this cowl is really easy to knit! Start with a little square and go on in garter stitch, knitting back and forth while forming the spiraled shape on the go by simply knitting two stitches together. No seaming! The last finishing touches are done with a crochet hook. The result is a warm and beautiful cowl in fascinating dark and intense colors, perfect to wear during fall. In this video I talk about the pattern and the yarn: Cast-On-Event-3-2017 from Martina Behm. The pattern "Spiral Escape" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Big & Beautiful
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
As you may know, I live in an old pub in the northern German countryside, built in 1906, remodeled in the late 1980s. It’s beautiful and I really love it, but the house is quite big (big enough to hold knitting events and classes!), so we only turn on the heating in the rooms we actually use – plus the wood stove, of course. When I am sitting at my desk, I usually wear three layers of wool plus something cozy around my neck, and this big and beautiful cowl out of a soft and eco-conscious Aran-weight yarn is my new favorite: The reversible cables spiral elegantly around it, so it’s a little wider at the shoulders and narrower around your neck. Up or down, inside or out: just Big & Beautiful! To make the cowl, you need 2 skeins of Big Merino Hug from Rosy Green Wool, a cable needle, a stitch marker, and a circular knitting needle 6 mm.

Quadra Cowl
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Fascinating! Quadra Cowl will change its appearance just as you wish: It's especially fun when made out of a self-striping yarn or a mini-skeins. The construction comes together automatically during the knitting, no sewing or seaming required. All important steps are explained in the accompanying videos. As the cowl is double-layered and extra warm, it will be a useful addition to your winter wardrobe!  The cowls in the pictures are made out of two sets of Zauberperlen  by Schoppel (200 g in total, colorways Samarkand and Arabesk) or four balls of Edition 3  by Schoppel (colorway Englischer Garten). You can choose other yarns if you wish (e.g. Lazy Lion or Crazy Zauberball), just make sure it is not too bulky.  Please note that you will need three circular needles of the same size to make this (only for one round), length 80 cm (32 in) or more, preferably in different colors, plus four stitch markers.
