Product information "Kremke Soul Wool Lazy Lion Sock Yarn"
This is probably the softest sock yarn in the whole wild world – and it's made out of mulesing-free Merino fiber from South Africa. Hence the name! Besides the softness, the best thing about this yarn is that it is color-changing: As you knit, exciting stripes in a number of color combinations will emerge. It's perfect for an interestingly constructed shawl like Easy,Puerto Montt or Match & Move. "Lazy Lion" is superwash and consists of 25% Nylon, so it will be durable enough for socks and other hard-wearing garments – all of this while being incredibly soft!
The sample "Trillian" from our book "Hitchhiker Collection" was made out of one skein of this yarn, colorway "Brittas Favorite".
„Trillian“ is the leading female character in Douglas Adams‘ great book „The Hitchhiker‘s Guide to the Galaxy“. She‘s a mathematician and astrophysicist, and if she took up knitting, no doubt she would enjoy the unusual construction of this shawlette: You start knitting at one corner, adding wider and wider rows, thereby forming a long, narrow, slightly asymmetrical triangle. Just perfect for wrapping around your neck several times or hug your shoulders with a little warmth. Due to the shallow-but-long shape, you will get something useful to wear, no matter how much yarn you have. The garter-stitch center is perfect for showcasing a beautiful hand-dyed yarn, because it makes the colors flow into each other naturally. The fishnet-lace border on both short sides of the triangle adds just a bit of femininity without being frilly. Manageable even for beginning knitters. The pattern "Trillian" is part of Martina Behms book "The Hitchhiker Collection"
Striking and intense, dramatic color and contrast, and fascinating geometric shapes are what you can see if you board a ship in Puerto Montt in the very South of Chile and travel a few nautic miles to the Laguna San Rafael, where a bright teal-colored glacier lies between dark rocks, and if you are lucky you can see chunks of the ice break off and fall spectacularly into the water. My husband and I spent a year in Chile, and we took our baby son on a cruise to this place, because I insisted that the only thing I really, really needed to see in Chile was the teal-blue glacier. When this yarn arrived, I was immediately reminded of the strange beauty of that place – and created an unusually shaped shawl which is simple, but dramatically shaped and can be worn in various flattering ways. Enjoy!
Club version uses 150 g of Rohrspatz & Wollmeise “Pure”, limited colorway “Nautic Miles”.
Gradient striped version uses 100 g of Schoppel Crazy Zauberball, colorway “Blasser Schimmer”The pattern "Puerto Montt" is part of Martina Behms book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".
S quaring the circle with this extra-warm and extra pretty hat: Circle & Square! You start with an oval, working in the round and end with a square, all completely seamless and without any purl stitches. The unusual construction looks especially attractive in a self-striping or gradient yarn. The fabric is doubled in the spots that count (ears!), so it’s perfect for icy-cold winter days. Work it in a fingering-weight yarn or choose the yarn you like – the size is adaptable to the wearer’s head circumference.
I used one skein of the super soft "Lazy Lion" by Kremke Soul Wool for this hat. The pattern is adaptable to other yarn weights and sizes, though.
These stitch markers can do more! They will not only remind you that you have reached a specific point in your row, but will also tell you what to do: knit 2 together, ssk, yarn over or m1. Also, they can be removed easily or placed in other places in your knitting as you please.
Can the concept of an interchangeable needle set be improved any further? Yes, it can! I have been using several different needle systems over the years, and all of them had the problem that after a while, the needle tips would become loose, yarn would be caught in the screwing section or the tips would fall off entirely (a catastrophe when you are knitting lace...!). The click system by German manufacturer Addi solves this problem: You insert the end of the cable, press and turn – and the needle tip is secured for good. It won't come off, even after many hours of knitting. The mechanism is not hard to learn (it's shown in this Youtube video (opens in new window, in German – but you will see how it works!). It's a patented, true innovation and I think it's really awesome as it makes knitters' lives easier.
What I also like about it: If you need to set stitches aside you can just use a connector to attach the ends of the cable to each other (this would not work with other systems!).
If you would like to make the switch to the Addi click system, this luxurious needle set is four you: 8 pairs of Addi Lace tips (sharp, suitable for complex patterns) in 3.5 to 8 mms, 3 cables (lengths 60, 80 and 100 cm) and a connector (which lets you combine the cables to 140, 160 and 180 cm). They come in a beautiful pink-purple satin case, so there won't be any chaos and you will always find the tips you need. On the back of the case there's a zippered pouch for the cables. It's also a great gift for your favorite knitter.
This premium knitting needle set features different pairs of addi-click needle tips and addi-click cords in different lengths that are quickly combined to create the exact circular knitting needle you need. These needles are great quality "Made in Germany". The needle sizes are printed on the points (metric and US).
