Product information "Frattali"

Fractals – those are geometric shapes that repeat their overall shape in the small details, and I have been fascinated by them for a long time. So, why not knit a shawl that plays with a fractal structure? “Frattali” is a large stole worked in the round, super easy to knit, and the fun fractal structure makes it interesting to knit and wear. Use a fine yarn with long color changes in your favorite shades to accentuate the shape and construction. As it is so big and light, you will find that it offers many possibilities on how to wear it: Fold it lengthwise to wear it as a scarf, drape it over your shoulders, or bundle it up around the neck. Have fun with Frattali!

You will need 32 (!) stitch markers to make this pattern.

Schoppel Lace Flower
Color Schoppel: Streiflichter
Color changing yarn in fascinating shades: That's what southern German yarn maker Schoppel is famous for. And with "Lace Flower" they really have outdone themselves: A mulesing-free, fine Merino fiber was spun into a shimmering one-ply that really makes the colors shine. And with 1200 m per flower, you will get enough yardage to make a big Lapislazuli or Smooth Sailor. And it's superwash! Perfect, right? The sample "Nuvem" in our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was made out of one Schoppel Lace Flower, colorway "Blasser Schimmer".

Strickmich! Big Bowl - your project bag
Strickmich! Big Bowl is the more voluminous version of her little sister, the Strickmich! Bowl Accessory bag: Open it up and it will expand to a useful bowl that holds your yarn balls when knitting. Sturdy cotton with a wool felt bottom protects your precious yarn, and knitting from it is a breeze. When you close it, you can carry it with the attached sling. Strickmich! Big Bowl holds 250 to 350 g yarn (on the ball or knitted) plus your needles. The smaller version (Strickmich! Bowl – accessory bag) is suitable for knitting accessories or small projects with up to 100 g yarn. The yarn and decoration in the pictures are not included.Strickmich! Big Bowl is sewn by Manomama in Augsburg, Germany after an idea by knitwear designer Martina Behm: Sturdy organic cotton fabric that will hold its shape and a reinforced bowl bottom with wool felt from German sheep who live in the Black Forest. The contrast-color zipper looks great with the Strickmich! logo tag and is made in Germany as well. Manomama is a project by Sina Trinkwalder, who established Manomama in the old textile hub Augsburg in Bavaria, employing people who find it hard to find work otherwise. Fair pay and good working conditions are an essential part of the project. Materials100% organic cotton from Tanzania, woven in Northrine-Westphalia, Germany, GOTS certifiedWool felt from sheep from the Black Forest, GermanyZipper made in GermanyMeasurementsDiameter upper edge ca. 30 cmDiameter bottom 18 cmHeight of Edge approx. 13 cmLength when closed approx. 37 cmWidth when closed approx.  17 cm

Nuvem
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
„Nuvem“ is Portuguese and means „Cloud“. I picked this name because this shawl is light as a feather, super-warm and cozy, and its ruffled edge makes it look like a little cloud if you wrap it around your neck and shoulders several times. This one will warm you on chilly winter evenings on the sofa and will protect you on cold winter days outside under or over your favorite coat. In a colorful, hand-dyed laceweight yarn, it looks beautiful without using any complicated stitches. In fact, once you are done casting on, there are only knit stitches (no purling required!) and simple increases. If you have a beautiful, big skein of multicolored laceyarn and you are in the mood for a long, relaxing haul of almost mindless knitting, this is the project for you! Also, a good “first big project“ for beginning knitters. Nuvem is shaped as a very long hexagon, which makes it very versatile: It replaces a cardigan when just thrown over the shoulders, it transforms to a big, long scarf when folded lengthwise, and it can be anything in between. You start in the middle using Judy‘s magic cast-on and knit in the round until 20% of your yarn is left. Then you create the ruffle and bind off. For the size shown in the pictures, you will need around 1590m (1740 yards) of laceweight. You can make this shawl using less yarn, but naturally it will come out smaller. The pattern "Nuvem" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Lapislazuli
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
A lovely, airy laceweight in an interesting color does not need an intricate stitch pattern to show off its virtues! While knitting up this shawl, you can perfectly relax. No purling required, and apart from the occasional yarn over or knitting two together there are no special stitches involved. The construction is a stretched circle, simple but elegant.  Using only 100 grams of yarn, this shawl is unusually big and versatile: Spread it out and lay it over your shoulders to keep warm, or fold it up and wrap it around your neck as a scarf. “Lapislazuli” is named after this famous blue gemstone because my son Edgar (age 9) had read about it in one of his books and was really keen on naming my next blue design. Have a fun, relaxing time knitting! In this video I talk about the yarn and the the design.

Polarlys
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
One of the most spectacular phenomena on this planet must be the Northern Lights: In colors from blue-teal to purple they illuminate the sky close to the North Pole, and if you are lucky during your vacation in one of the northern Scandinavian countries, you will see them. This shawl was inspired by the Northern Lights (“Polarlys” is the Danish word for them), as its shape resembles the broad strokes that the light paints on the sky. Polarlys starts with Judy’s Magic Cast-on and is knit from the middle in rounds – entirely without purl stitches, ending with an asymmetrical mesh lace border.
