Product information "Manos del Uruguay Sami"
Super soft merino fiber, spun in to a pearly, lovely superwash yarn: "Sami" by Manos del Uruguay is an absolute delight to knit with. It's also superwash, which will make your pieces easy to wear and care for. But the best about this yarn is that it matches its sister yarn "Marla" in fiber content, spinning method and color – so you can combine both yarns for stripes, intarsia and even stranded knitting. Sounds good? Absolutely!
Read Manos del Uruguays profile here on Martina's website. The yarn is dyed in a women's project in Uruguay, providing fair working conditions and pay for women in rural areas. This yarn proves that making the world more beautiful and a better place at the same time actually works!

Hitch on the Move
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
Zig-zags just look cool, are fun to knit and go with everything, if you ask me! This shawl unites the sharktooth design of my most popular pattern “Hitchhiker” with the construction of “Match & Move”: two yarns interlock along the middle axis in a zig-zag-pattern. Of course, everything is worked seamlessly in one piece, and in the end, there are only very few ends to weave in. For “Hitch on the Move” we chose two lovely plant-based yarns, one with color changes and one without. If you prefer, you can use a set of mini-skeins for one side and a solid color for the other – the possibilities are endless! Please keep in mind if you change yarns with every stripe, there will be more ends to weave in. The pattern includes instructions on how to make the shawl bigger using more yarn.Below you can see color suggestions from Kremke Soul Wool "Morning Salutation" and Schoppel "Zauberball Crazy Cotton". The shawl on the photos is knitted from two balls per color.

Match & Move
Formate: PDF Download | Language: Deutsch
I just love the “We’re Different”-Grab Bags from Rohrspatz & Wollmeise: Depending on which kind you choose, you will get a combination of a multicolor and a matching semisolid, hand-picked by the dyemaster herself, who has an unmatched sense of color. What shall I say? I was really surprised when I saw that she teamed up a softly variegated brown-grey with a bold and warm red. I just had to give it a try and get my knitting needles moving! So here’s “Match & Move”, a shawl designed to show off the perfect Wollmeise color combination and use up (almost!) an entire grab bag of yarn. My shawl weighs 286 grams. The unusual construction results in kinked stripes that look really interesting when you wear it. The knitting is plain garter stitch and very relaxing, and the shawl is so big and comfy, it is just a dream to wear. Definitely my favorite shawl so far – and I am determined to order another grab bag, be surprised and knit myself one more. Size of the shawl in the pictures: 200 x 50 cm (80 x 20 inches) 286 g of yarn (140 g of color A and 146 g of color B) Wollmeise Colors: Resi and Zimtapfel (both WD)The pattern "Match & Move" is part of Martina Behm´s book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions".

Strickmich! Big Bowl - your project bag
Strickmich! Big Bowl is the more voluminous version of her little sister, the Strickmich! Bowl Accessory bag: Open it up and it will expand to a useful bowl that holds your yarn balls when knitting. Sturdy cotton with a wool felt bottom protects your precious yarn, and knitting from it is a breeze. When you close it, you can carry it with the attached sling. Strickmich! Big Bowl holds 250 to 350 g yarn (on the ball or knitted) plus your needles. The smaller version (Strickmich! Bowl – accessory bag) is suitable for knitting accessories or small projects with up to 100 g yarn. The yarn and decoration in the pictures are not included.Strickmich! Manos del Uruguay Marla
Color Manos del Uruguay: Twiglight
Looks like handspun: "Marla" by the Uruguayan hand-dyeing cooperative Manos del Uruguay consists of two strands of yarn, both hand-dyed, that are spun together to create this special effect. It's a lovely yarn for shawls and cowls as it is both very soft (superfine merino!) and superwash, so you can toss your pieces in the washing machine when necessary. The yardage is 273 yards / 250 m per 100 g skein, so your hats and shawls will knit up fairly quickly and be squishy and warm. "Marla" looks especially good when combined with its sister yarn "Sami", e. g. in a "Match & Move" shawl or with stranded patterns. Read Manos del Uruguay's profile here on Martina's website. The yarn is dyed in a women's project in Uruguay, providing fair working conditions and pay for women in rural areas. This yarn proves that making the world more beautiful and a better place at the same time actually works!

BC Garn Loch Lomond Bio
Color BC Yarn: 10 Hellblau
A typical British Tweed Yarn: Loch Lomond is woolen spun, that means it has a nice volume and at the same time a good long yardage. This results in very light garments. The rustic look with the typical tweed nups inspires you for warm shawls. And last but not least: It is GOTS certified, that means from sheep to dye stuff, from production to stock keeping and packing, each step is inspected carefully and in line with very strict organic and social standards.Voluminous, with a rustic look and a soft and comfy feel: That’s “Loch Lomond Bio” by BC Garn, a lightweight Tweed inspired by British traditions. Just as its name – Loch Lomond is said to be the most beautiful lake in Scotland, located in a stunning National Park. So it only makes sense that this yarn is certified organic: The wool comes from small farms in Argentina that comply with the strict rules of the “Global Organic Textile Standard” (GOTS), as does the spinning mill that processes the fiber, and even the offices and storage at BC Garn in northern Germany. “We are required to work in an energy-efficient way, recycle and offer fair working conditions to our employees”, says Britta Kremke, owner of BC Garn. The standards are obligatory for every step of the production – so the knitter can be sure that the yarn she holds in her hands is made in an animal-friendly and sustainable fashion. The sample "Tough & Toasty" in our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was made out of half a skein of this yarn, color "Erika".

Amano Puna Traceable
Color Amano: 4115 Royal Purple
Sustainable Softness from Peru Extra warm, extra soft and extra good for our planet – that’s the way we love a beautiful yarn, and the amazing alpaca yarns by Amano are just that! The fiber comes from cooperatives in Peru which employ the latest methods to ensure an animal-friendly environment and minimal impact on the surroundings. The high plains of the Andes are home to three and a half million alpacas. They have been living in this area for more than 5000 years and learned to thrive despite the rough climate and scarce food supply, earning their wool a reputation to be the most sustainable animal fiber there is. Alpaca fiber is significantly warmer than wool from sheep, it is very soft and has an attractive lustre – a dream for any knitter. It is processed by a spinning mill in the south of Peru to become one of the luxurious knitting yarns by Amano: blended with silk, merino or cashmere or pure as Baby or Imperial Alpaca in gorgeous, vibrant colors inspired by the textile traditions of South America.  Puna is made from 100% Baby Alpaca, yardage is about 250 meters / 273 yards / 100 g, so it's perfect for large but light, warm shawls like Naiada (two skeins of this yarn, colorway "Kornblumenblau"). The pattern is available here in our shop or in the book "The Hitchhiker Collection"  Martina has designed her knitting pattern "Loops" especially for this yarn. The sample "Loops" in our book "Strickmich! Knitting Inventions" was made out of two skeins of this yarn: One in Korallrot, the other in Bordeaux.
